Yes, NY NJ Appliance Cleaning works in Rockland County, New York. We steam-clean range hoods, ovens and cooktops and sweep wood-burning fireplaces in Nyack, Upper Nyack, Piermont, Grand View-on-Hudson, New City, Pearl River, Suffern, Montebello and Airmont, and in Tuxedo Park, a few miles over the line in Orange County. Rockland is the first New York county the Palisades Interstate Parkway reaches north of the New Jersey line.
The kitchens here
Rockland's kitchens follow the terrain. Down on the river, Nyack, Upper Nyack, Piermont and Grand View-on-Hudson are old villages of Victorians and frame houses on steep, narrow lots, and their kitchens were renovated inside walls that were never planned around a range hood duct. Up the hill in New City and Pearl River the houses are mostly post-war colonials and split-levels, a lot of them opened up around a bigger range. Suffern, Montebello and Airmont sit against the Ramapo hills with larger, newer houses and a grill on the patio. Tuxedo Park, up Route 17 in Orange County, is a gated village of old stone and shingle-style houses, where the kitchen can be a century younger than the rooms around it. Plenty of these houses, old and new, still have a fireplace somebody actually uses.
The kitchens we see in Rockland’s river villages and hill towns
Start with the photo above, because it shows the part of a range most people forget belongs to the job. That’s a marble backsplash, and grease doesn’t stop at the hood. It drifts onto the wall behind the burners and settles into the stone. Marble is soft and it etches, so this is steam-and-cloth work, no harsh chemicals, and nothing acidic anywhere near it. It’s slow. It’s also the piece a homeowner notices first when they walk back into the kitchen.
The river villages are where Rockland kitchens get tricky. A Victorian in Nyack or Upper Nyack, or one of the older houses squeezed onto the slope in Grand View-on-Hudson, often has a renovated kitchen with a good range and a hood that vents wherever the old framing allowed. Grease collects at every turn. A range hood cleaning, blower included, clears the hood, the filters and the fan, and that alone often brings back a draw that had faded over the years.
New City and Pearl River are simpler houses with simpler ducts. A colonial or a split-level with a kitchen opened to the family room, a 36-inch range, a chimney hood on the wall. What they share with the river villages is the fireplace in the next room.
An open kitchen changes what a dirty range costs you, though. When the cooktop is in full view of the couch, stuck-on burner caps, a hazy glass top or grates with a brown crust on them are the first thing a guest sees, and last night’s fish follows everyone into the living room. Tuxedo Park is the opposite case: a big old house where the kitchen is at the back, out of sight, and the hood above the range can go years without anyone noticing it has stopped doing much. Opposite problems, and both of them start at the hood.
What Rockland County, New York homeowners book most
Hoods, and then the fireplace. Plenty of Rockland houses have a wood-burning fireplace that gets real use, and a sweep for wood-burning fireplaces takes out the soot and creosote from the firebox, the smoke shelf and the flue, and checks that the damper opens and closes. Creosote is the stuff that burns, and clearing it cuts the fire risk. We cover the hearth and the floor before we start, because soot travels.
There’s a limit to that work, and we’d rather say it here than on your hearth. We sweep. We don’t do masonry. A cracked crown, a damaged flue liner or a missing cap goes to a mason, and if we see one, we’ll tell you plainly.
The oven is the third call. Honestly, in an older house with a tired hood we’d skip the self-clean cycle altogether. Hours at full heat sends the smoke through the whole floor. Oven steam cleaning without the self-clean cycle works the racks, the oven floor and both sides of the door glass by hand, and the house doesn’t smell of it afterward.
Suffern, Montebello and Airmont have the bigger lots, and that’s where a built-in grill is most likely to show up. The backyard grill and outdoor kitchen gets its best cleaning in spring, before the first cookout. And since a Rockland kitchen is as likely to hold a Viking or a Thermador as a Wolf, the brand-specific parts we work on are worth a look before you call.
How many people in Piermont search for a range hood cleaning? Nobody knows, including Google, whose keyword numbers don’t go that small. We’d rather write a useful page than guess.
Getting to you in Rockland and Tuxedo Park
The Palisades Interstate Parkway brings us up from the New Jersey line, the Thruway crosses to Suffern, and Route 9W runs above the river villages. Coming from Westchester, it’s the Cuomo Bridge into South Nyack. Tuxedo Park is up Route 17 past Sloatsburg.
Parking varies a lot. The hill streets in Nyack and Piermont are narrow and steep, so tell us where the van can sit without blocking a neighbor. Tuxedo Park has a gatehouse that needs your name and our window ahead of time. We book Monday through Friday, and urgent problems get a phone call, not a form.
Nearby
Rockland’s southern edge is the state line, and northern Bergen County, just across the line, starts right there in Old Tappan, Rockleigh and Montvale. Over the bridge, Tarrytown and the Westchester river villages share a lot with Nyack, including the Victorians. Every other region is on all the counties and boroughs on our map.
Fall is when the hood and the fireplace both come to mind. If yours need doing, mention both on the first call and we’ll plan one trip instead of two.
