Fairfield County, Connecticut is the newest part of our service area. NY NJ Appliance Cleaning takes range hood, oven, cooktop and outdoor grill cleaning in Greenwich, Old Greenwich, Riverside, Cos Cob, Stamford, Darien, New Canaan, Norwalk, Westport, Wilton, Ridgefield, Fairfield and Southport, starting at the New York line and following I-95 and the Merritt Parkway up the county. Because Connecticut is new for us, we confirm every town by phone before booking.

The kitchens here

Fairfield County kitchens look a lot like the Westchester ones next door. Greenwich's back country, north of the Merritt, is estate land with long drives, big kitchens and an outdoor kitchen by the pool. Old Greenwich, Riverside, Cos Cob, Rowayton and Southport sit on the water, and the grills there live in salt air off Long Island Sound. Darien is colonials and shingle-style houses; New Canaan has those too, along with the mid-century modern houses the town is known for, where an island hood often hangs in open space instead of against a wall. Downtown Stamford has apartment towers with a building manager and a service elevator. Ridgefield and Wilton are older country houses on wooded lots, with a kitchen that's usually been redone at least once.

The kitchens we see in Fairfield County, Connecticut

First, the honest part. The kitchen in the photo above is a stock photo, not one of our jobs, and Connecticut is the newest part of our service area. “Neighboring towns of CT” is as far as our old description ever went. This page puts names to it, and if your town isn’t on it, the phone is faster than guessing.

What we know well is the kind of kitchen Fairfield County has. Greenwich’s back country and the bigger lots in New Canaan and Westport look a lot like the estate kitchens in Westchester: a 48-inch range, a liner hood hidden in custom millwork, and a fan housing that hasn’t been opened since the kitchen was installed. Grease builds up past the filters where you can’t see it. Range hood cleaning, filters to blower is the job that reaches it: baffles out, liner steamed, blower housing opened, fan and lights tested before it all goes back.

A Google review of NY NJ Hoods, our commercial sister company, put the problem better than we could: “It’s hard to find a company who is willing to clean residential hoods.” Residential kitchens are the whole job on this side of the family.

Then there are the wall ovens. If your Darien or Ridgefield kitchen has a double wall oven instead of a range oven, steam cleaning wall ovens and ranges is how the upper and lower cavity, their racks and their glass get done. We’d take steam over the self-clean cycle on a wall oven every time. Steam reaches the door glass and the gasket; the cycle mostly just leaves ash.

What Fairfield County, CT homeowners book most

It’s early, so read this as what the kitchens call for rather than a tally of jobs. Near the water, in Old Greenwich, Riverside, Rowayton and Southport, it’s the grill. Salt air off the Sound gives stainless those brown tea stains and, left long enough, pits the surface. The terrace grill and outdoor kitchen gets cleaned inside and out, from the burners and the lower housing out to the doors and the stone.

A grill that’s gone a few seasons without that needs more. Grill restoration for pitted, stained stainless is a full teardown: every removable part out of the firebox, the housing cleaned, and the stainless polished back along its grain. Not everything comes back. A rusted-through burner or a cracked casting needs a part, and we’ll tell you that before we quote the restoration, not halfway through it.

Inside, it’s the brands. Back-country kitchens in Greenwich and New Canaan are likely to hold some mix of Wolf, Sub-Zero, Miele and Thermador, and what changes brand by brand matters more on those than on anything else we clean. The cleaner the burners and the blower stay, the longer those appliances keep working the way they did on day one.

Stamford is the exception to all of that. The apartment towers downtown have kitchens with a slim hood, often recirculating, with charcoal filters and a blower that nobody reaches because the hood is tucked under a cabinet. Charcoal filters get replaced, not cleaned; the metal grease filter in front of them and the blower behind them do get cleaned, and that’s the part people skip. It’s a smaller job than a back-country estate. It still matters in a kitchen with no window that opens.

We won’t pretend there’s measurable search demand at the town level. “Range hood cleaning connecticut” is below the floor of Google’s keyword data. That’s fine. This page exists because the kitchens do.

Getting to you in Connecticut

Coming from New York, it’s I-95 or the Merritt Parkway, both crossing into Greenwich from Port Chester and Rye Brook. For Ridgefield and Wilton it’s Route 7 north from Norwalk. The Merritt doesn’t allow commercial vehicles, so on a given day we may be on I-95 even when the Merritt looks shorter on a map.

Back-country estates in Greenwich often have a gate and a long drive, so tell us the code or who’s meeting us and where to park. Stamford’s towers run on the building’s rules about when a vendor can come up. Send those building requirements over early and the day goes smoothly.

Nearby

Greenwich shares a border with Rye Brook and Port Chester, and Westchester towns on the New York side are the kitchens these resemble most. Across the water, the North Shore across the Sound has the same salt-air grills, though getting there means driving back around through the Bronx. Everything else we cover is on the regions list for three states.

Local questions

Fairfield County questions, answered

Which Connecticut towns do you actually cover?

The towns on this page, from Greenwich up to Fairfield and Southport and inland to New Canaan, Wilton and Ridgefield. Connecticut is new for us and we'd rather confirm your town on the phone than promise it on a web page, so call before you assume either way.

Is there a travel charge for Greenwich or Westport?

Distance is one factor in any quote. The others are the appliances themselves: a 60-inch hood liner, a double wall oven, a grill that needs a teardown. Photos of each one get you a straight quote faster than any description, and putting several on one visit makes the trip count.

Can you come on a Saturday?

Our scheduling runs Monday to Friday, so a weekday is what we can book. If something can't wait, a hood that's smoking or an oven you need for a holiday, call rather than email and we'll be honest about what we can do.

Is cleaning in Connecticut any different from what you do in New York?

The process isn't. It's the same inspection, protection, steam and hand detailing, and the same test of the fan and lights at the end. What differs is the day around it: the drive, a gate code in the back country, and the salt on a shoreline grill in Southport or Rowayton.
