Why it matters

The grease you can't see is the part that matters

NY NJ Appliance Cleaning is a residential appliance cleaning company that steam-cleans range hoods, grease vents, ovens, cooktops, refrigerator coils, ice machines and outdoor kitchens in luxury homes across New Jersey, New York City, Westchester, Long Island and Fairfield County, Connecticut. The work is done by hand on pro-style brands such as Wolf, Viking, Thermador and Vent-A-Hood, with steam and detailing tools instead of harsh chemicals, and every surface around the appliance is covered before the first piece comes out.

Grease is the fuel. We take it out.

Cooking is the leading cause of home fires in the United States, and cooking oil, fat and grease are the material most often ignited first. A hood, filter and duct coated in grease sit inches above the flame every night. Steam-cleaning that buildup out of the hood and out of the accessible duct is the cheapest way to cut the fire risk in a serious kitchen.

Oil, fat and grease were the leading material first ignited in 45% of nonconfined residential cooking fires. U.S. Fire Administration, Cooking Fires in Residential Buildings (2017–2019)

How a hood cleaning cuts the fire risk

A hood that actually moves air.

A gas range puts nitrogen dioxide and fine particles into the room every time you cook. The hood is supposed to carry that outside, but a blower wheel packed with grease and a loaded baffle filter can't pull the air they were rated for. After a proper cleaning the fan sounds different, the smell stops lingering into the next morning, and the hood does the job the manufacturer designed it to do.

Cooking on a gas range releases nitrogen dioxide and PM2.5; ducted range hoods that vent outside are what lower those concentrations. Washington State Department of Health, Ventilation While Cooking

What a blower and vent cleaning restores

Protect the appliance you paid for.

A Wolf range, a Sub-Zero ice maker or a built-in Lynx grill is an investment that runs hot and collects carbon, grease and mineral scale in places a kitchen cloth never reaches. Baked-on residue holds heat against gaskets, igniters, burner tubes and condenser coils and wears them out early. We take the appliance apart as far as it is designed to come apart, clean each piece, and put it back the way it left the factory.

A metal grease filter loaded with buildup cuts the airflow through the hood, so the blower ends up pulling against the grease instead of through it. Broan-NuTone range hood filter guidance

Oven care that protects the finish

What we clean

Every appliance in a high-end kitchen, inside and out

Seventeen services, one method. Every visit starts with an inspection of the appliance's construction and finish, then the counters, cabinets and floor get wrapped in plastic ahead of any steam. Pick the appliance below or call and describe what you've got.

  1. 01 Range Hood Cleaning The filters, the blower, the hood and the accessible duct, steam-cleaned and put back the way the factory shipped it.
  2. 02 Range Hood Filter and Baffle Cleaning Baffles, mesh and charcoal: what you can wash at home, what a dishwasher does to aluminum, and when the set is past a sink.
  3. 03 Hood Blower and Grease Vent Cleaning The blower wheel, its housing and the first stretch of duct within reach of the hood. Where the grease goes after the filter, and where our work honestly stops.
  4. 04 Vent-A-Hood Cleaning No filters, so the blower housing does the catching. We take the Magic Lung apart, clean every piece, and reassemble it exactly as it came.
  5. 05 Luxury Appliance Brands Wolf, Sub-Zero, Viking, Thermador, Vent-A-Hood, Miele, Dacor, Capital, BlueStar, Bertazzoni and more. Why the brand changes the cleaning, with one real detail on each.
  6. 06 Wolf Appliance Cleaning Red knobs off, grates out, the blue porcelain oven and the hood liner steamed, every part reassembled the way Wolf built it.
  7. 07 Viking Appliance Cleaning Open burners, a heavy blower and a porcelain oven: the Viking-specific parts, cleaned the way they were built.
  8. 08 Thermador Appliance Cleaning Star burners, glass control panels and a pair of wall ovens: the whole Thermador suite, one visit.
  9. 09 Oven and Range Steam Cleaning The oven below and the cooktop above, steamed and hand-detailed at low heat, with the door off and the racks out.
  10. 10 Cooktop, Stovetop and Griddle Cleaning The top of the range and the wall behind it: burners, grates, glass, griddle and backsplash, cleaned without scratching a thing.
  11. 11 Pizza Oven Cleaning Soot out of the dome, ash out of the floor, a flue that draws again. Wood-fired, gas and countertop ovens, cleaned dry and by hand.
  12. 12 Outdoor Kitchen and BBQ Grill Cleaning The whole island, not just the grates: grill, side burner, vent hood, drawers, fridge, sink and counters, cleaned in one visit.
  13. 13 High-End BBQ Grill Restoration A full teardown of a neglected built-in grill: every burner, shield and tray out, the housing scraped bare, the stainless polished back to the grain.
  14. 14 Refrigerator Coil and Ice Machine Cleaning Condenser coils cleared so the compressor stops working overtime, and ice machines descaled and sanitized down to the bin.
  15. 15 Dishwasher Deep Cleaning The filter, the spray arms, the sump and the gasket, degreased and descaled so the dishes come out dry and the kitchen stops smelling like the last load.
  16. 16 Dryer Vent Cleaning The whole run from the back of the dryer to the outside hood, plus the floor and the back of the machine that nobody has seen in years.
  17. 17 Fireplace and Chimney Sweep Soot and creosote out of the flue, the smoke shelf and damper cleared, the firebox cleaned, and the room left the way we found it.

Before and after

The same grill, before and after

These are our photos from one built-in grill job, not stock. Drag the handle. The burner tubes on the left were caked to nearly twice their diameter and the housing underneath had a season of drippings in it. On the right is what the homeowner got back the same afternoon.

Drag the gold handle, or focus it and use the arrow keys.

Built-in gas grill burner tubes removed and laid on a drop cloth, heavily caked with black carbon and grease before cleaning The same grill's burner tubes reinstalled and cleaned back to bare stainless steel after restoration
Burner tubes: removed, degreased, descaled, reinstalled and test-fired.
Lower housing of a built-in outdoor grill full of grease, ash and food debris before cleaning The same grill's lower housing cleaned to clean stainless steel with the igniter box and brackets visible
Lower housing: scraped, steamed, polished, drain cleared.

How a visit runs

Seven steps, every appliance, every visit

This is the exact sequence on the job sheet. It's why a cleaning here takes longer than a wipe-down and why the kitchen looks the way it did before we walked in, except for the appliance.

  1. Inspect

We identify the appliance's construction, finish and condition before touching it. A brushed Wolf face, a powder-coated Capital door and a Vent-A-Hood blower each want a different approach.

  2. Protect

Counters, cabinets, floors and the backsplash get covered. Plastic over the whole run of cabinets is normal for us; it's the reason there's nothing to clean up afterward.

  3. Clean

Steam, the right cleaning chemistry for the finish, and detailing tools. Filters, baffles, blower wheels, racks, grates, burner tubes and drip trays come out and get cleaned separately.

  4. Detail

Hand-detailing the corners, seams, hinges and control panels where residue hides. This is the step that separates polished from merely clean.

  5. Reassemble

Every component goes back in its proper position, seated and aligned. Nothing rattles, nothing sits crooked.

  6. Test

Fans, lights, igniters and any other accessible function get checked where applicable, so you know the appliance works before we leave.

  7. Final inspection

We walk the whole kitchen with you: the appliance, the surfaces we covered, the floor. Then we pack up.

Gus from NY/NJ Hoods did an amazing job cleaning out our wolf vent hood. The vent hood was very greasy and smelly but after the service, the hood became brand new! Our house has an open floor layout so the greasy smell was invading the entire house but now I wouldn’t have to worry about it anymore. It’s hard to find a company who is willing to clean residential hoods. So please consider NY/NJ HOODS LLC! You wont regret it. Thank you so much for your service.

Questions

Range hood and appliance cleaning, answered

Answers reviewed September 15, 2026.

How much does it cost to clean a range hood?

One set price for the hood, given to you before anything is booked. Text us a picture of it with the range underneath and the number comes back in the same reply, and that is what we charge on the day.

How do I know when my range hood needs a cleaning?

The hood usually says so before we do. The fan gets louder and pulls less, a cooking smell hangs around the next morning, and the filter surfaces go tacky to the touch. Pull one filter and look at the side facing the blower: a film wipes off, a crust does not. We look at the appliance, tell you what it needs, and set the schedule with you.

What's included in a range hood cleaning?

The filters or baffles, the hood interior and exterior, the blower wheel and housing, the light lenses, and the accessible portion of the grease duct. We protect the surrounding cabinets and counters first, steam and hand-detail every piece, reassemble, and test the fan and lights before we leave.

How long does a hood or oven cleaning take?

Most hood cleanings run two to three hours. A large double oven or a 48-inch dual-fuel range with the cooktop takes about the same. Booking the hood, range and oven together usually means a half day in the kitchen, and it's the most efficient way to do it.

Do you use harsh chemicals?

No. We steam-clean and hand-detail, with cleaning products chosen for the specific finish, whether that's brushed stainless, enamel, glass or a powder-coated door. Your kitchen doesn't smell like a chemical plant when we leave, and the finish on a range that cost more than a used car isn't put at risk to save ten minutes.

Does the range hood duct need to be cleaned too?

If it's a ducted hood, yes, at least the accessible section. Grease travels past the filter, settles in the blower housing and the first run of duct, and that's where it's a fire risk and an airflow problem. Recirculating hoods, common in apartments and co-ops, don't have a duct, but their charcoal filters need replacing and the blower still needs cleaning.

Can you send a certificate of insurance for my building?

Yes. Ask when you book and we'll send a certificate of insurance before the visit. Co-op and condo boards in Manhattan and Brooklyn ask for one routinely, and if your managing agent needs specific wording or the building named as additional insured, tell us up front so it goes out in time.
